A native of Santiago, Chile, Axel Vallejos is a graduate of Rice University, where he completed his Master’s degree in cello performance. He received his Bachelor of Music at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, a Professional Performance Certificate, and a Master of Music degree from Lynn University.

Throughout his career, Axel has performed with a wide range of chamber ensembles and orchestras across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, and East Asia. He has participated in renowned summer festivals, including the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany for four consecutive years, where he concluded with a tour in China as principal cellist. Other notable events include the Orchestra of the Americas (YOA), the International Music Academy of Solsona, the AIMS Festival in Spain, the Zeist Music Days in the Netherlands, and the Aronson Cello Festival in the United States. Axel was also part of the Ensemble Bartok and was invited to perform at China’s “Meet in Beijing Festival," which included performances in Beijing, Seoul, London, and Málaga. In 2024, Axel had the remarkable opportunity to perform twice at Carnegie Hall, embracing his first experience on this iconic stage.

In addition to his performance career, Axel is a dedicated teaching artist involved in numerous educational initiatives. He has contributed to projects such as the Harmony Program's Summer Camp at The Juilliard School in New York, Zeta Charter Schools in New York, YOA Global Leaders in Honduras and Ecuador, the Preparatory School of Music at Lynn University's Conservatory of Music in Florida, the Houston Youth Symphony CODA Music Program, and the Vivace International School of Music in Texas, among others.

During the 2022-2024 season, Axel joined the New Haven Symphony Orchestra. He was also an active member of both the Chicago Philharmonic and the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra from 2021 to 2023. Axel frequently collaborates with the Sarasota Orchestra, Jacksonville Symphony, and Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally, he has recently been appointed to the cello section of the Palm Beach Opera for the 2025-2026 season.
